'Coda Has A Plan To Turn Everyone On To Plugging In'

The 2012 Coda Electric was the car that was supposed to put the established manufacturers on notice, like Tesla and Fisker are kind of doing. Of course, then Coda laid off pretty much everyone and the whole idea of competing kinda disappeared.

The Coda has a decent bit of torque, 221 pound feet, which gets it to 60 in 9.5 seconds. That's 1984 Oldsmobile Cutlass good. Its better lithium batteries give it a government certified range of 88 miles. That's almost enough to drive somewhere and then back again.

Too bad MotorWeek's excitement didn't turn into success. I guess a big trunk doesn't translate into big sales.

MotorWeek Theater is our showcase of some of our favorite classic reviews from public television's finest motoring program. How does this video only have 4,245 views? It's electric. Boogie woogie woogie.
